Each year, at the end of one of our worship services, as a congregation, we take a quick hike down to the Arnolds Park Beach by Bob's Restaurant at West Lake Okoboji, and baptize believers into God's covenant community.
We would love for you to join us in that celebration. And, if you would like to receive the gift of baptism, please let us know!
"If you make disciples, you always get the church. But if you make a church, you rarely get disciples." Mike Breen
We are a church that is all about disciples who make disciples. That's why we have the commitment of being a church of 20 discipleship-making groups (Missional Communities) by 2020. But in order to do that, we need to equip, train, and deploy dozens of missional disciplemakers.
That's where you come in. Every Christian is called to be one of those disciplemakers. No exception. If you've never discipled anyone before it can be daunting to start. And if you've been discipling others for years, you know that there's always more to learn.
You are invited to LAUNCH: our Missional Discipleship Leader Training. Over the course of two evenings, you will be equipped, trained, and deployed to start a new discipleship group or deepen the one you're leading now.
LOCATION: Good News Community Church, 1010 Julia St, Okoboji, IA 51355
DATES & TIME: Day 1, Monday, July 9, 6-9pm; Day 2, Monday, July 23, 6-9pm
Register today so we can provide adequate snacks, drinks, and resources.
Changing Lives ... Strengthening Families.
Share your loose change with a few babies! The Baby Bottle campaign for Cherish House will begin this Sunday, June 3rd. A table will be full of empty baby bottles, just waiting to be filled up with your loose change! Pick up an empty baby bottle ... bring back a full one to church by July 1st.
Your coins can make a difference in the lives of young mothers and their children. The proceeds of this unique fundraiser will be used to help Cherish House.
For questions or more information, call or email the Cherish Center at 712.338.3333; firstname.lastname@example.org; or check out their website at www.cherishcenter.org.
The GNCC Middle and High School youth will be hosting their annual fundraiser offering burgers and hot dogs on the grill!
The proceeds of the free will donation meal will be used to help defray the cost for our youth to attend future mission trips, summer camps, and recharges. We believe that these positive experiences will strengthen our youth in their leadership qualities, positive behaviors, and most importantly, their faith!
On Sunday, April 29, a child needs you to help them to escape from poverty. Each one of us has the opportunity to respond to this call on Compassion Sunday. After the service, visit one of our Compassion tables where you can view packets showing boys and girls who need a sponsor right now. This is your opportunity to release a child from poverty in Jesus’ name. You will give them a future and a hope through the loving intervention of a Christ-centered program run by a local church in their neighborhood.
WOMEN, LEADERSHIP, & THE BIBLE SEMINAR
Saturday, December 9, 9am-noon
Join Anthony Parrott for three-hours of Biblical teaching and exposition as we explore how God breaks down barriers that prevent women from fully using their gifts and living out God’s call on their lives.
After months of reviewing resumes and applications; many interviews; hours of prayer, conversation, and discernment, the Hiring Team unanimously recommended that Pastor Brandon Morrow be the next Lead Pastor of Good News Community Church.
The Leadership Team (your elders+deacons) has met with Pastor Brandon, reviewed his qualifications and credentials, and then unanimously voted this past Thursday to invite Pastor Brandon Morrow to candidate at our church on Sunday, September 17. The staff of GNCC full-heartedly concur!
Here's what happens next.
On Sunday, September 17, Pastor Brandon will preach at both the 9am and 10:45am services. Then, at noon, GNCC will host a potluck that will include a moderated Q&A time. Following that, the members of GNCC will vote on whether or not we should invite Pastor Brandon to be our next Lead Pastor.
Then, taking the congregational vote into advisement, on Thursday, September 21 the Leadership Team will make the final vote on whether or not to invite Pastor Brandon to be our next Lead Pastor. If the answer is yes, a starting date will be set in coordination with the Morrows, GNCC, and our denomination.
Please submit any questions you have for the Morrows here.
Any questions you have about the process so far or the process ahead, please send to Anthony Parrott (email@example.com), and he will either answer the question or get you in contact with the person who can!
