Trust

If you were to look up trust in the dictionary, it defines trust as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. What happens when that trust is broken? How do we go about regaining that trust? By ourselves this is a monumental task, and one that we most likely will fail at. However, if we include God into the

equation, the bible tells us that we will always succeed. What if we lose trust in God? Where do we turn for answers? I read an interesting article on that exact subject and found some interesting concepts. The words translated “trust” in the Bible literally mean “a bold confident, sure security or action based on that security. Trust is not exactly the same as faith, which is a gift from God(Ephesians 2:8-9). Rather, trusting is what we do because of the faith we have been given. Trusting is believing in the promises of God in all circumstances, even in those where the evidence seems to be to the contrary. Hebrews 11 talks about faith, which is accepting and believing the truth that God reveals about himself, in the person of his son Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, the practical consequence of faith in God is trust. When circumstances of our lives make us face storms that we feel are unfair, such as loss of a loved one, a severe illness, the loss of your job, it may cause us to lose our trust in God. So how do we get it back? What can we do to restore our lost trust and then our faith? We relearn what the Bible tells us about God through the teachings from his son Jesus Christ. For me it was a little different, I never had trust in God, because I did not know God. So, once I started living a life that God wanted me to live, I began to grow trust. And therefore, I learned that He always had trust in me. Here are some key points to think about when trying to regain your trust in God.

1. God is sovereign over the storms of life.

a. When things are out of our control, they are never out of God’s control, no matter how humanly impossible the situation.

b. We are not necessarily out of God’s will when we do get caught in a storm.

c. We aren’t ever out of God’s care when we get caught in those storms.

2. Our responsibility in the storms of life is to trust openly in God’s care for us.

a. To trust openly in God’s care is not opposed to using caution and common sense.

b. To trust openly in God’s care means that we will be different in the storm than those who do not know God!

c. To trust openly in God’s care is not opposed to using the means that God gives to get us out of the storms.

d. To trust openly in God’s care means that we will bear verbal witness as God gives opportunity.

3. God will use our trusting Him in the storm to bear witness to many.

Final thought: ONE MAN CAN HAVE A MAJOR IMPACT ON OTHERS WHO SEE THE REALITY OF GOD IN HIS LIFE!
